It was part of the boxed set "The Wild Swans", "The Princess and the Pea" and "The Ugly Duckling", a collection of Hans Christian Andersen tales adapted by Gustavo Martín Garzo.
It was published in 2005, the bicentenary of Andersen's birth. The combination of a text adapted by a renowned novelist (Martín Garzo) with the illustrations by Ajubel, Pablo Amargo and Antonio Santos —three artists awarded the National Illustration Prize—, together with the carefully designed hardcover box set, earned it the Second Prize for Best Edited Books in the Children's and Young Adult category, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture to the Ediciones SM edition.
